New York State Verizoncustomers under contract for Verizon Double Play, have had there bills continue to increase even though they are under contract price, due to Verizon charging a surcharge that they claim is a Federal Tax due to VOIP, but this surcharge was denied by the PSC. Yet Verizon has continued to increase the charge to all their 2 year contract holders unfairly. This surcharge continues to rise without any notice or explanation to their customers for the increase.
Verizon claims that this is a Federal charge mandatory for VOIP customers, and is listed under the Federal Tax part of your bill, but in reality this is a Verizon surcharge not mandatory by the federal government or the PSC, it is only Verizon collecting and increasing this surcharge.
Customers who have two year contracts are shocked when suddenly out of nowwhere their bill increases with this unknown charge. When the customer contacts Verizon, they are told that this charge is out of Verizon’s control, but in reality it’s their surcharge and their way of increasing your contract price.
Verizon Surcharges and Other Charges and Credits are costs the law allows Verizon to pass on to its customers as a surcharge.
This surcharge Verizon claims is to recover a portion of the expenses Verizon incurs for the relocation of its facilities that are in the public rights-of-way to prevent interference with streetrepairs, public construction projects or other activities required for public health, safety or
The New York State Public Service Commission is more of a Dis-Service Commission. They are not there for the consumer! If you file a complaint you might get a case number, and an automated response with excuses as to why the delivery fee is so high and that they have closed your case, they will never ever side with the consumer against the Utility Company.
Don’t let them fool you the PSC is in the utilities pocket, and therefore they do not want anything to do with you or your complaints! Us as consumers in New York are suffering from deregulation, because the PSC has allowed National Grid to charge these outrageous so called delivery fees on top of the supply fees. How can they justify the utility company charging a flat delivery fee, plus a more expensive rate fee per kWh than the supply rate on top of the flat rate fee which comes out to almost triple the supply fee.
We are paying much more for delivery now than we ever did for supply. Consumers here are burdened with paying outrageous bills for their energy delivery and yet being asked to conserve supply, and when they do conserve energy guess what, National Grid requests another increase in delivery rates, and so we still wind up paying more for energy in New York than anywhere else. We as consumers need to band together and change the way the PSC keeps it’s company with NG!
