New York State/City Tax Assessments Excessive

Assessment Increases Unfair

This system of assessing homeowners with huge increases without any explanation is unfair and costly to the homeowner. The homeowner is then the one who has to defend themselves in an unfair practice by the State/City.

You have to get an attorney to appear for a hearing/super spreader because of the volume of grievances with them. The City schedules for you and in front of someone on their side to only waste your time and money because you can’t fight the government. The assessor doesn’t explain why there is such an excessive increase. They don’t have to explain anything. You are the one burdened with finding evidence or an attorney to help.

We homeowners already pay excessive rates, and now they want to increase not a little at a time but all at once to raise your escrow $700 or more, and then raise the tax rate. The Mayor is of no use. His office will direct you to the form for the hearing that you haven’t got a chance of winning!

New York state may be in my review mirror soon.

Walmart.com Online Price Gouging

We were all happy when Walmart lowered it’s free shipping option amount from $50 to $35, and started providing 2-day shipping instead of their slow Post Office option. However suddenly everything is now listed with an In-Store price and a 2-day Shipping price.

2017-11-10_0955

What difference does it make if we purchase in-store or online price should be the same, and the 2 day shipping isn’t free if we are being price gouged for it. Walmart has not just added a few cents to items, something that is .48 cents In-Store is a $1.48 for the 2-Day Shipping option.

Sorry Walmart but it looks like you are charging us for that free 2-day shipping you offer.

From now on Walmart will NOT be our first option, the place that provides the cheapest price is where we will shop, and it looks like that won’t be Walmart!

We contacted Walmart ‘s CEO Doug McMillon about this and the response received from his team was ridiculous. They told us to shop at the store or pick up at the store, which basically means the extra charge is due to the 2-day shipping they claim is free!

The reason most people shop online is because they don’t want to go to the store, and some of us hate going to our local Walmart, because it takes just as long to pick up an order as it does to just go there and do the shopping yourself.

Response By Email (11/10/2017 05:12 PM)

Hello,

Thank you for your email and for taking the time to share your concerns regarding pricing on some items available on Walmart.com. We know that low prices are important to our customers and we’re committed to providing just that. However, in certain instances, our prices on Walmart.com may not be the same as what you see at your local Walmart store because of differences in the costs to serve our customers in the different channels. If Grocery pickup is an option for you, your local Walmart provides this service which offers the same low prices that we have in our stores because the orders are fulfilled at the store. For more information, please visit https://wmt-grocery.custhelp.com/app. Again, we thank you for sharing your concerns and want to assure you that we always work to make sure we are offering a competitive online price. If you have additional questions, please don’t hesitate to reach out.

Sincerely,
Princess B.

Why New York State home owners can’t catch a break!

Image

syracuse-logo

When the City can’t make their budget who pays the bill, the Home owner.

When the city tears up the roads with the DPW trucks who pays for the oiling, the Home Owner.

When the State and the County raise property taxes again, and then NY state gives the Home Owner a rebate, who takes it back, the City Common Council.

The Home owner looses every time in NY, because any rebate they were expecting to receive will now be in the form of a higher property tax burden.

http://www.cnycentral.com/news/story.aspx?id=1041056#.U7SFFfldU90

When the Home owner is late on their water bill after the first of the year, the City will call this arrears and place a small portion of that bill on the home owners property taxes and call it water rent, just to make the home owners escrow payment even higher and to force them into paying the Department of Water on time after the first of the year just to avoid this scam charge. That is the only way this benefits the City because to wait a year for pennies that they could have had now just doesn’t make any sense. Even scammers don’t have it this good.

This is the wonders of being a Home Owner in NY State. You cringe every time your new tax bill is due to arrive, your problems are not with paying the Mortgage payment, but with paying your escrow payment. It’s just like having an adjustable rate payment on a thirty year fixed loan!

New York State places an incredibly high and unfair property tax burden on it’s Home Owners. If your a first time home buyer and you think your getting a good deal because the property here is really cheap, don’t make that purchase, because the entire burden of the State will be coming out of your pocket, and all you will have left is your home.
